What best characterizes this butter is its large fraction (compared to other plant derivatives) of what is generally called โshea unsaponifiableโ. The amount of unsaponifiable varies, depending on the geographical origin of the plant and degree of ripeness of its fruit which ranges from 2.5% to 15%. Shea butter contains triterpenoid alcohols (lupeol, low-alcohol, butyrospermol, amyrin and parkeol), Karitene and phytosterols. Thanks to these active components, shea butter is very beneficial for the skin.
